Summer clothes

It's been a while, mostly because I've actually been studying!

So summer is here... sort of. I get very bored of real life shopping, y'know the kind where you have to actually walk into a shop and TALK to people, so I tend to do a lot of internet shopping and you have no idea how happy Amazon one click makes me. I wish all websites had that function but my bank account might not agree.

Anyway, after attempting to shop in the real world yesterday for some summer clothes (I'm so much better prepared for winter) and finding nothing I decided to have a look online.

Zara, Zara, Zara! This shop has made me happy again and maybe a little excited for summer.

Here is some of the good stuff:

Spotify

I used to be a die hard fan of new music, I never missed a Zane Lowe show and I would introduce my partner to new music that I loved and wanted him to love. That was a few years ago and now he tells me whats good and I get annoyed because he found it first!

So now I have discovered Spotify and hopefully I'll be the cool one again. I miss the excitement of hearing something that I've not heard before, something different that isn't in the charts and all over the radio 1 breakfast show. So far I have found out that 1979 are good.

I fear I'm getting a too old for gigs, the last one I went to was Ben Howard and he was amazing. I'm a sucker for a sensitive voice and an acoustic guitar. (now I really do sound old) So I'm saving myself for the really special gigs, for the bands playing the music I love.

I'm pretty excited about my new experience that is Spotify! wish me luck.

Girl friends.

Lately I've been thinking  a lot about who I can ask to be my maid of honour. (I'm only really having one because my partner is probably having two best men!!) The wedding is a year and a half away but I'm a worrier and an over thinker so it's on my mind right now!

I know it's an awful thing to say but I'm starting to realise there is only a handful of people I truly 100% trust. That includes my family and a few friends. I'm not sure if that says more about me or them. I want a maid of honor that will be with me on the day and be happy for me and make me feel at ease and I really don't want to have to be worrying about her bitching about my dress or my hair the moment my back is turned. Maybe its just from the experiences I've had but so many girls are like that, including myself sometimes. Part of me thinks I should choose the one that will kick up the most fuss if she isn't my MOH, just to keep the peace- but that doesn't mean she is my best friend or the one I really want by my side.

Anyway, for now I will put it out of my mind and get excited about the other stuff and the fact that I'm marrying the one I feel safest and happiest with.

(realise that there are bigger and more important things going on right now but I wanted to get these thoughts out of my head!)

Tonight I will mostly be playing this:

Because using a space bar to shoot things is so much cooler.

NYC

Today I am hungover and feeling rather sorry for myself. Today, like most days, I miss New York. I was lucky enough to spend Christmas 2012 there. This holiday was extra special because it was mine and my partner's first proper holiday together and where he asked me to marry him (I said yes!)

I don't want this blog to become a bunch of lists...but here's a few things I miss about NYC!

Two Bros - this pizza place was the first 'meal' we had once we got to New York. We ended up going there a few times because the pizza was so good and it was only a dollar a slice (one slice was all I needed - it was massive!)

The size of the buildings - I found myself looking up the whole time I was walking down the street there. Everything is on such a big scale and pretty overwhelming. There are beautiful buildings and bright lights on every street.

Anthropologie - I have since found out that this store delivers online to the UK but it's not nearly as much fun as going to the actual store. I wanted to buy everything. They even had a whole section of stunning door handles!!

The diners - There is nothing like sitting in a steamy diner on a bitterly cold day and taking your time over a big pile of pancakes and a glass of orange juice. Bacon and maple syrup. Yum!

Bryant park - This is where we got engaged and where we spent a lot of our time! Because we went at Christmas there was an ice rink and lots of amazing stalls selling everything from popcorn to beautiful jewellery.

I know we will go back one day but for now
I <3 NYC

Cartoons that are too cool for school (kids)

I am a 14 year old in a 27 year old's body. I still love cartoons so I thought I would share my fave cartoons for adults.

Regular Show
I first watched this in a hotel room in NYC. It is now set up for series link on our Sky box! It is dumb but very funny. It's about a raccoon and a jay bird that are best friends who love to slack while they are meant to be working. This makes their boss (a gum ball machine, natch) very mad.

Bob's Burgers
My partner introduced me to this show and it's awesome. I'm not sure it will be shown in the UK any more which is such a shame because it's great. It's about a family that run a burger bar which is basically a failing business but each week they try something new to try and save it. The burger specials might be the best bit about this show. E.g 'New bacon-ings' - comes with bacon.

King Of The Hill
I will never tire of this one. I have almost all the box sets and it's like a security blanket to know they are there when I want cheering up! Totally underrated show.
South Park
I hate myself for finding this show funny. I know it's awful but it's kind of brilliant too and perfect after a long day at work when I want to switch my brain off.
